About Basic NAR Services and Collections
How do I request an
aerial photography search from NAR?
Please read the full instructions here.
Can I hire NAR to
photograph my site?
No, we don't do any
flying or photographing ourselves. We deal
only in historical
aerial photography that has already
been taken by
other firms, a few collections of which we have in-house ownership (see the next question below).
What historical
aerial photography
does NAR have?
Can I come to your
location and take a look at your photography?
No, we don't have a "walk-in" facility,
and our collection is not stored in a manner fit for customers to stop
in and examine photos.
Can NAR offer
photo interpretation service for my court case?
No, NAR does not
offer
photo interpretation services, although we may be able to
recommend others who specialize in photo interpretation. NAR
staff members are not
qualified to perform such interpretation.

What do the scale listings mean?
The scale listings
(such as 1"=1667'), refer to the
ratio of inches on a photo equal to the number of feet in the real
world.
In other words, if a photo is listed as having a scale of
1 inch = 2000 feet, it means that every inch on the photo itself
corresponds
to a length of 2000' in the actual, real world location shown in the
photo.
The listed photo scales in AerialsearchTM reports are the scales the photos were taken at.

here.
What does "Estimated
Turnaround" mean?
"Estimated
Turnaround" is the time it normally takes
for us to receive photography from a vendor—once we have placed the
order with them—and to ship the order out to the
customer.
It is only referring
to the amount of time it
takes the vendor to produce the product, package it, and ship it to us,
as well as
the time it spends en route to us, and then for us to process it and
send it out to the customer. Usually we place an order with a
vendor only once we have received a
pre-payment from the customer, as
we must pay the vendor for their
products up front. The
"Estimated Turnaround" time does not,
therefore, normally include any
time that it takes for a customer to place an order, or for us to
receive the required pre-payment, but only the time between when we
order a product from a vendor to when we send it out to the customer
that ordered it through us. Normally, once we have received the
product(s) required to fill a given order, we
ship the product(s) the same week.
The "+ / -" that
accompanies each listing (as in "+
/ - 3 Weeks"), means that the turnaround time could be "less than or
more than" the number of weeks quoted, but the quoted number is normally the average
time. If one of our vendors is up to date on
processing their orders, the overall turnaround time may end up by
being less than that quoted on the AerialsearchTM
report, but if the vendor is instead backed up and working to catch up
on the backlog, the overall time may be more than that quoted.
Note that while National Aerial
Resources, LLC cannot be responsible for
delays caused by vendors failing to get a shipment of product(s) to us
within the estimated time quoted, we
monitor all orders with our vendors
periodically and do our best to notify you ahead of time when any
photos might be
delayed beyond the estimated turnaround time.
Why do the prices vary so much?
The different
prices
often listed on
AerialsearchTM
available photography reports are due to the fact that the reports are
generated by running a search through our databases of photography
existing from various sources for a given site. Each different
source has its own pricing system, so on a report that lists a number
of different years of coverage from several different sources, that
diversity is reflected in the differing prices.
What is Stereo Coverage?
Stereo coverage is photography composed of
photos taken at intervals close enough together that a portion of one
photo overlaps with another. When viewed properly, these
overlapping portions combine to create an illusion of three-dimensions
(3D),
allowing the perception of depth.

What is a digital print?
A digital print is a hard copy of a photograph produced from a computer
image file instead of from a traditional chemical photo
development process. Digital prints can be made either from
images taken with a digital camera or from images produced by scanning
regular film negatives.

here for more information regarding the specific and attributes of digital prints.
Can you tell me if the
specific detail I want to see is in a photo before I order it?
Generally
speaking,
we don't have the ability the view photos from outside sources without
ordering them, which means we cannot usually answer any questions about
what specific details can actually be seen in a given photo.
There are rare
instances, however, when we can
preview photos from outside sources, but in order to answer a specific
question about visible details we must charge
research
for the staff time spent for such examinations.
Note: Such information provided by
NAR staff members
cannot
be taken as authoritative for legal proceedings, as that would require
the services of a qualified photo interpreter. NAR
does not offer photo
interpretation service, and NAR staff members are
not qualified to perform
such interpretation.
